Kimberly Seldon

Having a relaxing bath is such a luxury and who doesn't like to soak in a bubble filled tub! I love how Kimberly Seldon placed a selection of bathing products on a mirrored tray (or is that a repurposed mirror?) in easy reach of the bath. How easy would it be to visit a local thift store or TJMaxx, purchase a few glass corked bottles and fill them up with your favorite products? I love this idea!

Waterleaf Interiors

Today I was cooing over Elements of Style (I love this blog). Erin Gates showcased a wonderful west coast design firm, Waterleaf Interiors. Their gorgeous cushions ooze casual coastal chic, as do all of the interiors that design duo, Jill and Suzanne create. I hope these talented ladies create an online store. I for one would happily purchase a number of their cushions for my boudior!

Darryl Carter

I just received a number of 'oh my goodness' design books and amongst them is 'The New Traditional' by Darryl Carter. Gorgeous work. Soft palette punctuated with rich textures. Carter effortlessly strikes a balance between puritan minimalism and unapologetic decadence.

Greg Natale Design

Sydney designer Greg Natale is behind this work. I adore the Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair in blue, which sets the color choice for the carpet, cushions and cane chairs (love these chairs!) and the white floating curtains framed the ocean view beyond. Using this color theme again, Natale has saturated the stairs in bright white and layered them in the dark blue (or is it black?) runner. Note to self: the architectural detailing - the wood trim- to frame the wall.

To The Beach (I Wish!)

What a simple and inexpensive idea for a little beach house - a usually found, outdoor white andronick chair greeting you in your foyer - absolutely brilliant. And the plump cushion, vase of shells (placed on the white garden table!), flip flops and hat all add to the sense of feeling that you're now on beach time. Sherry Hart is the clever designer behind this idea and I also love how she added the architectural element (the round window...looks like a nautic port hole!) to the top of the bureau. Lovely.

Leibowitz + McLachlan

Love Leibowitz + McLachlan's composition of 'found' objects - the aged wicker basket sitting under the table, the large white shell set against the oversized glass vase (and the shot of color with the garden blossoms!) and the series of woven baskets mounted above the bleached bench. And I love the block print cushions, they say "come sit" and add a softer texture to the space.

52 Suburbs

During the week I happened upon a fantastic initiative, by Sydney based photographer, Louise Hawson, who is documenting the 'beauty' of 52 suburbs. Brilliant, absolutely! Best yet, Louise is courageously knocking on people's doors explaining her project and in the process she's peaking onto the lives of perfect, friendly, beautiful strangers and amassing a spectacular collection of photos. How inspiring!

Candy and Candy

I came across Candy and Candy through AD and discovered the Candy's brothers sprawling penthouse in Monte Carlo. This design firm materializes the dreams of the uber rich - homes, yachts, jets - and their own apartment is, as you can image, an extension of this 'exceptional' lifestyle. Case in point, their gentlemen's quarters. It's a stunning space where 'modern' Art Deco meets 'old world' Classicism - the chaise floating on the cream marble floor, the columned glass doors veiled with sheer curtains and the bronze sculpture framed, in no doubt, a spectacular view of Monte Carlos' harbor.

Inspiration...

My parents are building a gorgeous home on a wonderful street in Hawthorne (Brisbane) and I'm thrilled to be helping them select the materials and finishes. We've selected Tasmanian Oak for the first floor and I think it's going to be beautiful - modern, clean and a simple base - on which they can layer modern furnishing and much loved antiques. The inspiration? A stunning home in Woollahra (Sydney). I love how this home has a neutral and modern foundation but the owners (or their designer!) have sparingly introduced interesting 'aged' pieces - the round French Empire table in the living room, the red tufted chairs in the study, the three old world pendants above the kitchen island. Gorgeous.

The Magic of Glass

Have you seen Andy Paiko's work? Stunning, stunning, stunning! These glass 'jars' are exquisite sculptural pieces. And glass is such a wonderful material - it's reflective, dimensional, timeless - and best of all, it works in any space.
